AARP CHAPTER 5201

 Dear Dr. Mercaldo,

On behalf of our President, Betty Croan and the members of the Bethpage Chapter 5201, this is to thank you for attending our monthly meeting. We all enjoyed your talk on how you got into writing books and plays.  Your presentation was most interesting and entertaining too!  It is wonderful that part of the proceeds from the sales of your books goes to charity.  I purchased FERRY and OFFICER'S OATH and look forward to reading same.  Sincerely, Diana Vinciano, Corresponding Secretary

Gateway Academy

From the Principal at Gateway Academy-Staten Island, New York- "As a principal for 16 years, in both public and private schools, no words can express my gratitude for the wonderful Author's Day you planned for the students at Gateway Academy!  Sharing your experiences as an author, along with sections of your books, was an inspiration for many who aspire to be authors and/or struggle with writing.  The patience, attention and humor you displayed in autographing dozens of copies of LITTLE BOY BOO, made for a special day for everyone. Thank you for clearly establishing that authors are real people who write about real events. We look forward to having you return when the sequel to LITTLE BOY BOO is released.  Best wishes for continued success in promoting literacy!  Sincerely, Jo Ann Asciuto, Principal

We loved having you at our school last week. I have started reading your book to my class. They are so excited. We read a chapter a day and discuss it. The children can't wait to come back to school the next day to read the next chapter. You hae truly inspired me and my class. I want five more copies of your book!

"Oh, what a beautiful morning...Oh, what a beautiful day. Thank you for uplifting me and my whole class.

Dear David, Thank you so much for the books. I loved LITTLE BOY BOO! and cannot wait to read SEAMSTRESS. I spoke with Mrs. Siblo, our library teacher at P.S.42, and she will be contacting you to set up an author visit. Dennis and I look forward to meeting up with you again.

Hi David! Staten Island Community Charter School thanks you for your visit. The kids are loving your book! I have a few more orders for you but I will wait until Monday to call in case there are others. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

What a wonderful experience for my little sister. I think every child should experience Boo Boo Baxter, the main character in Dr. Mercaldo's new children's book .

What a wonderful little book I bought one for my seven year old daughter and had to go out and buy another for my eight year old son, it was so much fun watching them draw and illustrate their books. I hope more books like this come out before they grow up. Thanks.

David Mercaldo has a way of bringing out human emotion with his pen. Yes, I laughed and cried...and I remembered...and oh, how I remembered!

FERRY is an excellently written, well thought out and entertaining novel about people and life, and if I didn't simply love the novel I wouldn't be writing about it!

FERRY is a true depiction of family life as I know it to be. Angelo Marullo, Mercaldo's main character, pays homage to those of Italian descent and dispels the common misconceptions associated with Italian Americans.
